Recently I grabbed an opportunity to collaborate with a fashion student at my university. She is creating a magazine based on the classic mens brogue and the title of the section is called ‘The Illustrated Man’.
I have decided against illustrating the whole man so that there is more focus on the brogues as they are what the magazine is about.
My house mate kindly modeled for me for this particular illustration so I had a reference image. As soon as I had read the email about this job I pictured this illustration. I love detail so I had to draw some big knit socks.
Even though the piece is called illustrated man we were also allowed to draw women if we liked. Even though this is not an illustrated man I felt this piece could be enjoyed from a males point of view.
I am not sure if this one is quite finished. I don’t know whether to leave it as it is as I like how it suggests the movement of walking however I would also like to suggest that there is an invisible man wearing them. I am not sure if this can already be said for the image or that I should, in some way, reinforce this idea.
